Russell Sims Aquatic CenterBowling Green, Kentucky | Population 60,000 | 1,200 patrons per day When designing recreation and aquatic facilities, Brandstetter Carroll Inc. strives to provide innovative recreation features for the center’s patrons, while incorporating industry leading elements within the facility design to allow for a municipal operating surplus. This center is equipped with a stainless steel pool, zero depth entry, spray features, water slides, 50 meter competition and diving well facility, and shade features for onlookers. In 2000, the firm was awarded for its design of the facility by the Associated Builders and Contractors 2000 Award for Design Excellence. Since the opening of the pool in 2000, the facility has had an annual operating surplus of $150,000-$190,000, making it one of the most successful municipal aquatic facilities in the southeastern United States. |
