Camp Seafarer Program CenterYMCA of the Triangle, Raleigh, NC | Arapaho, NC The Camp Seafarer Program Pavilion is one of the final components developed in this resident camp for girls as identified in a multi-year development campaign. This 5,400 square foot open air facility provides much needed protected rainy day assembly space for the entire camp. At other times the building is programmed for a variety of camp activities for groups up to 300. The structure is located adjacent to the Dining Hall and completes a Camp Center core area development concept that was commenced 10 years ago. The Camp Center also incorporates the camp store, post office, and staff lounge buildings. The Center is the heart of this 900 camper girls’ camp. The new Program Center includes the main assembly area, light and sound control booth/program office, stage and backstage room for costumes, dressing, and storage. The main structure utilizes laminated glued wood timber arches and timber roof decking that matches the Dining Hall. The building features multi-level indirect lighting, heat exhaust louvers, and large overhangs for shading and rain protection. Planned future expansion of this facility includes; donor recognition pavilion, creative arts shed and computer/program classroom. These will be key components of the next round of development at Camp Seafarer. |
