Tates Creek Public LibraryLexington, Kentucky | 21,000 Square Feet | Geothermal HVAC Brandstetter Carroll Inc. became the first architecture firm to design two new library facilities for the Lexington Public Library Board as a result of this new public library. After completing the Beaumont Branch Library, the Lexington Public Library Board turned their focus on developing a new library that would service the south eastern neighborhoods of Lexington. The 21,000 square foot library was programmed with all users in mind. The library includes an expanded juvenile service area, patron lounge, public meeting space, adult collections and advanced technologies. The children’s area includes a story-telling space with a hand-painted mural depicting a jungle scene. The building is heated and cooled with an innovative geothermal system and takes advantage of natural light by way of positioning on the site and use of clerestory windows. |
