Groveport Recreation CenterGroveport, Ohio | 67,000 Square Foot Recreation Center | Columbus Monthly's "Best New Aquatic Center" for 2004 The Village of Groveport is a small community of 5,000 citizens located within Franklin County, Ohio, just 10 miles southeast of Columbus. The full scope of this project included a 67,000 square foot recreation center and an outdoor family aquatic center. During the design process, Brandstetter Carroll Inc. worked with Village officials in reviewing the staffing needs of the proposed facilities. When the firm was hired, the Village did not have an established Parks and Recreation Department or Director. The Brandstetter Carroll Inc. Team assisted in developing a recreation management structure, wrote staffing descriptions, and aided in the hiring of the new Director. The recreation center includes two basketball gymnasiums, large fitness and weight room, rock climbing wall, senior citizens center, full service kitchen, arcade area, aerobics room, and administrative offices. The indoor natatorium includes a 25-yard lap pool, leisure pool, a lazy river and life guard offices. The outdoor aquatic center consists of zero-depth entry, a lazy river, speed slide, spray features and a new bath house. In 2004, the outdoor aquatic center was named the “Best New Aquatic Center” in Columbus by Columbus Monthly. |
