Brandstetter Carroll Inc. guided the Elyria community through a comprehensive Parks and Recreation Master Plan process that played a key role in the successful passage of a bond issue to fund park system improvements. The planning process featured robust public engagement, including a statistically valid survey, an open web survey, stakeholder focus groups, online forums, and public open houses.
Beyond capital improvements, the plan offered strategic recommendations for enhancing operations, expanding marketing efforts, improving online program registration, and consolidating aquatic facilities for greater efficiency. Since the plan’s adoption in 2016, the City has made significant progress—implementing splash pads, trail expansions, new restrooms, updated playgrounds, a dog park, ice rink enhancements, new locker rooms, and more. The plan continues to serve as a catalyst for positive change and long-term investment in the community’s park system.
