The Paramount Theater in Ashland had a successful weekend. Crowds jammed in for country musician Sammy Kershaw on Friday night.
Sunday night drew another packed house to see Killer Queen. That’s a cover band paying tribute to popular band Queen. Killer Queen has been touring the world since 2000.
This is the type of entertainment and crowds we hoped the new management team would generate for this historic venue. Restaurants were crowded with a waiting period. All this means money coming into the area.
Concerts usually last 75-90 minutes. What concert goers don’t see is the amount of time to set up the stage to artists’ specifications. Then, the teardown after the concert is nearly as complex.
Concerts are expensive. Touring artists spend huge sums of money on travel. Increased fuel costs and overall travel costs have increased in recent years.
Paramount Theater has additional events during the months ahead. Patrons attending these two shows found a place to park. The rumbling about the closure of the city’s parking lot to build the conference center is seemingly unfounded.
