To support one of Kentucky’s fastest-growing counties, Brandstetter Carroll Inc. developed a comprehensive Strategic Plan focused on the acquisition and development of parks, greenways, and natural areas. Building on previous plans completed in 2000 and 2006, the 2020 update responded to continued population growth and shifting community demographics.
The planning process was shaped by input from over 400 residents through surveys, public workshops, and focus groups. A citizen-led advisory committee played a key role in reviewing plan recommendations and setting implementation priorities. The final plan outlined a vision for expanding park access through the addition of new county, community, and neighborhood parks, while emphasizing the preservation of natural resources and connectivity through greenways.
As a direct outcome of the master planning process, BCI prepared concept plans for two existing parks, including Boone Woods Park. This park required a strategic redesign to accommodate a new YMCA and an outdoor aquatic center while maintaining its recreational value for the community. These concept plans ensured alignment between long-term community goals and near-term development opportunities.
