Weisiger Plaza

Danville, Kentucky

Budget

$775,000

Size

.6 acres

Scope

BCI designed the redevelopment of this plaza space in historic downtown Danville. The original plaza featured a fountain dedicated to the Weisiger family and featured several historic “firsts” for which Danville is known. The new plaza better accommodates community events such as the Great American Brass Band Festival, art exhibits, concerts, and more with a bandstand and plaza viewing area. The “firsts” monuments was restored and reinserted into new pavement. A pergola provides shade and a defining edge to the space along Fourth Street. The former fountain perimeter stone ring was repurposed around a new fountain and a “Water Curtain” was developed as a backdrop to the stage. The project was completed in summer 2017.
