The City of Defiance acquired an adjacent property to the City Hall for the purpose of developing a new municipal court facility. Brandstetter Carroll Inc. was commissioned to design a new Municipal Court Building and provide a Master Plan for total site improvements to adjacent City-owned properties to provide a unified campus-like setting.
The Municipal Court is a 17,000 s.f. building with all functions to support the Court. The Clerk of Courts resides in a central location within the building, with an expansive service counter to assist the public. The Bailiff and Parole Office are located adjacent to the Court, as is a Magistrate’s suite with a Hearing Room. The sallyport accommodates a full-sized bus and the secure facilities will offer separated holding areas for males, females, and juveniles.
Vehicular circulation on the property needed to accommodate a drive-up window for the Court Clerk on the municipal building and an additional one for City services on the City Hall.
